SDP appoints 17 member caretaker committee for Imo chapter

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has appointed a 17-member caretaker committee to rebuild the leadership structure of its Imo State Chapter. The decision to dissolve the existing State Working Committee and appoint the caretaker committee was made by the party's National Working Committee (NWC) following reports of activities within the State Chapter.

The caretaker committee, led by Engineer Augustine Okere as Acting State Chairman and Comrade Onyekachi Asonye as Acting State Secretary, has been tasked with reorganizing the troubled chapter and restoring credibility ahead of future elections. The committee's mandate includes recruiting new members, especially youth and women, ensuring regular meetings, and providing monthly reports to the NWC.

The committee's tenure will last for 90 days, with the possibility of extension. Key institutions, including INEC and the State Commissioner of Police, have been informed of the committee's appointment.
