SDP Confirms Shehu Gabam's Expulsion and Misconduct

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has confirmed that Shehu Gabam remains expelled and is no longer a member of the party. This confirmation was made in a statement released in Abuja by Rufu Aiyenigba, the party's national public secretary.

The SDP emphasized the necessity of this clarification due to confusion arising from a recent court appeal ruling related to the Ekiti State governorship primary held on August 8, 2025. The party accused Gabam of misrepresenting the court's decision in an attempt to mislead the public and regain political relevance.

The SDP warned against the acceptance of false information without challenge. Gabam's status within the party has been contentious since his suspension in June 2025 and subsequent expulsion in October 2025 due to alleged financial misconduct.

The expulsion was confirmed by the national executive committee during a meeting on March 9, 2026. Gabam is also facing criminal charges related to the alleged misuse of party funds.
