SDP Rejects Court Order Against Gombe, Focuses on Elections

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially dismissed claims of a court order that allegedly removed Prof. Sadiq Abubakar Gombe from his position as National Chair.

The party emphasized its unity and focus on preparing for the 2027 general elections, with various electoral activities planned, including ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, culminating in a national convention expected to be held on May 9. SDP members have expressed interest in contesting various positions, including state assembly, national assembly, governorship, and presidential seats.

Dr. Olu Agunloy, the party's national secretary, reassured that the SDP remains committed to its ideological foundation and will continue to pursue political participation in accordance with constitutional provisions.

He also addressed concerns regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, clarifying that the electoral body does not have the constitutional authority to determine party leadership positions. The SDP aims to maintain peace and discipline within its ranks while preparing for the upcoming elections.
