SDP Denies Withdrawal from Ekiti Governorship Election

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially denied reports that it withdrew from the Ekiti governorship election scheduled for Saturday. Rufu Aiyenigba, the party's spokesperson, described the claims as fabrications intended to mislead the public.

The SDP confirmed that its candidate, Isaac Alad, remains firmly in the race and that the party's name will appear on the ballot. Aiyenigba urged the public to disregard the false withdrawal notice.

He also raised concerns regarding the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) refusal to allow the party access to upload the names of its polling unit agents, despite having allegedly issued an access code. The party accused unnamed individuals of deliberately spreading misinformation to undermine the electoral process.

Aiyenigba emphasized that the SDP is committed to contesting the election and described the party as a credible alternative capable of delivering good governance and equitable socio-economic development for the people of Ekiti State.
