SDP Confirms Gabam's Expulsion, Gombe is Authentic Chairman

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) issued a statement on Thursday reaffirming that Gabam remains expelled from the party and that Gombe is the legitimate chairman. Rufu Aiyenigba, the party's national public secretary, made this clarification in Abuja, emphasizing the need to address growing confusion regarding a recent court appeal ruling related to the SDP's Ekiti State governorship primary held on August 8, 2025.

The SDP accused Gabam of deliberately twisting the court's pronouncement in an attempt to mislead the public and revive his political career. The statement reiterated that no court ruling has removed the Gombe chairman and that the judgment in question strictly pertains to disputes arising from the governorship primary in Ekiti and Osun states, not the party's leadership structure.

Gabam's status within the SDP was reaffirmed as he is no longer a member, having been suspended in June 2025 and expelled in October of the same year due to alleged financial misconduct. Despite internal crises, the SDP remains focused on strengthening its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections and continuing membership registration to build alliances with political and socio-cultural groups.
