Search for Missing U.S. Soldiers Continues in Morocco

The search for two missing U.S. soldiers continues in Morocco, where they went missing on May 2 during a training exercise near Cap Draa. Col.

Africa Command's Southern European Task Force Africa, confirmed that the search operations have expanded significantly, covering approximately 4,600 square miles of sea and coastal areas. The search effort began shortly after the soldiers were reported missing and involves collaboration with Moroccan authorities.

Advanced tools and artificial intelligence systems are being utilized to analyze data collected from drones and surveillance platforms. The incident reportedly occurred during a sunset hike when one soldier fell off a cliff while another attempted a rescue, resulting in both entering the water.

The search includes helicopters, drones, naval ships, and military units such as the Air Force, Marine Corps, Army Special Forces, and the 173rd Airborne Brigade, alongside Moroccan forces. Although the African Lion exercise has officially ended, Tignor confirmed that search operations will continue with the support of Moroccan partners.
