Security personnel arrest hundreds of armed thugs in Kano by-election (PHOTOS)

Security personnel in Kano have arrested hundreds of heavily armed political thugs during the ongoing by-election. The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Ambassador Abdu Zango, reported that the thugs were intercepted while attempting to move to Bagwai where voting was taking place.

Another group of thugs in Shanono nearly disrupted the distribution of election materials, but security personnel intervened to restore order. Zango acknowledged that Shanono is often volatile during elections, but the heavy presence of security operatives has ensured that the process is proceeding smoothly.

The arrests highlight the efforts being made to maintain peace and security during the by-election in Kano.
