APC National Convention Preparations Intensify in Abuja

Security has been heightened in Abuja as the All Progressives Congress (APC) finalizes preparations for its National Convention, set to commence on March 27, 2026, at Eagle Square. The venue is being decorated in the party's colors of red, green, white, and blue, with the stage and facilities nearing completion.

Approximately 8,000 delegates from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will attend, led by President Bola Tinubu and 31 state governors, alongside members of the Federal Executive Council. Security personnel from various agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, are stationed around the venue to ensure safety.

Roads leading to Eagle Square are barricaded to control vehicular movement, diverting traffic. Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, chair of the convention committee, has been inspecting the venue preparations.

The party plans to adopt a consensus approach for selecting officials, emphasizing unity and internal cohesion, as outlined by Minister of Information and National Orientation Moham Idri during a press briefing.
