Senate Screens Taiwo Oyedele for Minister of State Finance

The Nigerian Senate began screening Taiwo Oyedele on Wednesday for the role of Minister of State for Finance, following a nomination from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This nomination comes just 24 hours after Tinubu requested the Senate to confirm Oyedele, who is set to replace Dr.

Dori Uzoka. Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the request during a plenary session, urging the upper chamber to consider Oyedele's nomination as part of ongoing adjustments within the federal executive council.

Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State, previously served as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, where he spearheaded efforts to overhaul Nigeria's tax system. With a professional background spanning 22 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers and a role as Africa Tax Leader, Oyedele is well-positioned to lead the Presidential Tax Reform Committee.
