Tinubu Swears in Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister

On Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu officially swore in Taiwo Oyedele as the Minister of State for Finance, following his appointment by the Nigerian Senate last week. The confirmation was announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who stated that the lawmakers approved Oyedele's nomination through a voice vote.

Oyedele succeeds Dori Uzoka in this role. He is recognized for his expertise in fiscal policy and tax reform, having served as the chairman of the presidential committee on fiscal policy and tax reform in Nigeria.

Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accounting and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and has earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive education programs at the London School of Economics, Yale University, and Harvard Kennedy School.

With over 22 years of experience at PwC, he rose to become the fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader. Additionally, he has served as a visiting scholar at Lagos Business School and is a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State.
