Senate Condemns Oyo School Abduction, Urges Security Boost

The Nigerian Senate condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and a teacher in Oyo State, describing the incident as heartbreaking and a crime against humanity. Senate President Godswill Akpabio led the lawmakers in observing a minute of silence to honor the victims, including teachers Michael Oyedokun and Adesiyan Adegboy, who were killed during the attack.

Akpabio highlighted the urgent need to strengthen security in schools and communities, warning that failure to protect citizens endangers Nigeria's future. He expressed grief over the loss of lives and assured that security agencies are working to secure the release of the captives.

The Senate President urged political leaders to avoid exploiting the tragedy for partisan gain, stressing that insecurity affects all Nigerians regardless of political or social differences. He called for support for legislative measures aimed at enhancing security and ensuring justice for the perpetrators of violence.
