Senate Investigates Adamawa Attacks, Orders Relief Aid

The Nigerian Senate has initiated a formal investigation into the recent attacks in Adamawa State, specifically targeting Lamurde Local Government Area. The Senate, led by Senator Bino Yaro, adopted a motion to address the alarming rise in violence, which has resulted in numerous deaths and displacements in communities such as Kwa Gyakan, Rigang, Waduku, and Tchobo.

Despite ongoing security measures, including a dusk-to-dawn curfew, the attacks by armed assailants have left residents feeling vulnerable. The Senate has mandated the National Emergency Management Agency to urgently deploy relief materials to the victims.

Senator Amo Yohanna described the situation as tragic, highlighting that violence has persisted for years despite various interventions aimed at restoring peace. He urged for enhanced collaboration between federal lawmakers and the Adamawa State government to bolster ongoing peace efforts and called for intensified operations by security agencies in the troubled areas.
