Nigerian Senate Raises Alarm Over Bandit Attacks in Katsina, Urges Immediate Military Action

The Nigerian Senate has expressed grave concern over the worsening security situation in Katsina State following coordinated bandit attacks that claimed at least 35 lives within 24 hours. Senator Moham Danduts highlighted the brazen nature of the attacks, emphasizing the need for immediate military intervention and improved police capacity.

The attacks have led to the abandonment of over 50,000 farmlands, posing a significant threat to food security and the local economy. Governor Dikko Radda and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have discussed the security challenges, with a pledge to establish military barracks in the affected areas.

The Senate called for enhanced security coordination, intelligence-driven operations, and the dismantling of bandit networks to restore peace and stability. Senator Aliyu Wadada cautioned against negotiating with bandits, warning that it could embolden criminal elements.

The Senate urged the government to provide immediate relief to affected families and strengthen security operations until the perpetrators are completely eradicated.
