Tinubu Nominates Tegbe as Minister, Umar as NMDPRA CEO

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu submitted a formal request to the Senate on Tuesday for the confirmation of Joseph Tegbe as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). This request was made in accordance with Section 147(2) of the 1999 Constitution, which empowers the President to appoint ministers subject to Senate confirmation.

Joseph Tegbe's nomination follows the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who left his ministerial position to pursue a governorship bid in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections. Tegbe is recognized as an expert in fiscal and economic reform with 35 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, having previously served as a senior partner and head of advisory services at KPMG Africa.

The Senate is urged to give prompt consideration to these nominations.
