Tinubu Seeks Senate Confirmation for AMCON Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to confirm Lamido Yuguda Abubakar as the chairman of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). This request was communicated through a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday.

The nomination is made in accordance with Section 10(1) of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria Establishment Act 2019, as amended. Tinubu emphasized the necessity for Yuguda's appointment to facilitate the immediate exit of the previous chairman of the AMCON board.

The Senate has been invited to consider the confirmation of Yuguda's nomination expeditiously. Akpabio assured that the nomination would be referred to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Financial Institutions for further legislative action, with a report expected to be presented to the plenary within two weeks.
