Tinubu Requests Senate Confirmation for AMCON Chairman

President Bola Tinubu has formally requested the Senate to confirm Lamido Yuguda as the Chairman of the Board of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). This request was conveyed in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which was read during a plenary session on Wednesday.

The nomination aligns with Section 10(1) of the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria Establishment Act 2019, as amended. President Tinubu explained that the appointment of Mr.

Lamido Yuguda became necessary due to the immediate exit of the past chairman of the corporation's board. The Senate has been invited to note the urgency of this appointment.

Following the presentation of the letter, Senate President Godswill Akpabio referred the nomination to the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Financial Institutions for further legislative consideration. The committee is expected to submit its report to the Senate within two weeks.
