Senator Adaramodu: Why Senate Cannot Recommend Any State for Creation Right Now

Senator Yemi Adaramodu, the spokesman of the 10th National Assembly, stated that the Senate cannot recommend any state for creation at the moment. The red chamber received 61 proposals from across the country's six geopolitical zones for state creation, but Adaramodu emphasized that the process is complex and requires auditing of demographic, geographic, and historical data.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Eze Okeke CFR, refuted claims that the South East Traditional Rulers endorsed the creation of Anioma State, stating that such claims are unfounded. Adaramodu explained that the Senate's stance is based on the constitutional right to create states through a thorough process, which includes public hearings and stakeholder input.

The Senate is currently reviewing the requests and will hold a comprehensive public hearing to consider the proposals before making any recommendations.
