Senator Natasha Indicted Over False Murder Claims Against Senator Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti was indicted in a police report over murder claims against Senator Godswill Akpabio, alleging his involvement in a plot to harvest organs. The police investigation, initiated based on claims made by activist Sandra Duru, found the allegations to be unfounded after forensic inquiries and examinations.

Akpoti had accused Akpabio of discrimination and unfair treatment, leading to a suspension. The investigation revealed no evidence of organ harvesting in the murder case of Iniobong Umoren.

The police filed criminal defamation charges against Akpoti, but the case did not proceed to full prosecution as Akpabio chose to discontinue the matter. Uduak Frank Akpan was convicted and sentenced to death in 2021 for Umoren's murder.

The police commended Sandra Duru for her report and actions in helping resolve public confusion surrounding the allegations.
