Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Indicted for Murder Allegations Against Akpabio's Wife

The Nigerian Police Force's report has indicted Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for allegedly falsely accusing Senator Akpabio's wife, Unoma, of involvement in the murder and organ harvesting of late Iniobong Umoren. The report, dated February 3, 2026, reveals that Akpoti-Uduaghan allegedly made these claims to a US-based activist.

Sandra Duru, a key figure in the case, assisted in investigations. Akpoti-Uduaghan denied the allegations but was suspended from the Senate for six months.

The police conducted forensic voice analysis, confirming the authenticity of recorded conversations related to the murder case. Uduak Frank Akpan was previously convicted and sentenced to death for Umoren's murder in 2021.

The Attorney General filed criminal defamation charges against Akpoti-Uduaghan in the FCT High Court on March 29, 2025. Despite the police recommending further investigation, Akpabio opted to discontinue the prosecution.
