Dele Farotimi Critiques Nigeria's Judicial System Over VDM

Dele Farotimi, a human rights lawyer and activist, expressed his concerns regarding the influence of social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), during a YouTube video shared on Saturday. Farotimi stated that VDM's prominence is indicative of the failures within Nigeria's judicial system.

He asserted that in a society with a functional police and judicial system, individuals like VDM would not be tolerated. Farotimi described VDM as a reflection of the judicial system's inadequacies, stating, “VDM is the life indictment of a judicial system that is essentially peopled by crooks in the place of jurists.” He emphasized that the society has made VDM the last hope for justice, criticizing the judiciary's claim of being the common man's refuge.

Farotimi warned that if the judiciary does not address the grievances of Nigerians, more figures like VDM could emerge, potentially leading to further societal breakdown. He urged a reevaluation of the justice system rather than focusing solely on VDM's activities.
