VeryDarkMan Becomes Hope for Common Man, Says Farotimi

Human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi remarked that social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has replaced the judiciary as the hope of the common man in Nigeria. Farotimi's comments came in response to the controversy surrounding VDM's invitation to the Nigerian Bar Association’s 66th Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt.

He argued that VDM's rise signifies a growing disillusionment with Nigeria's justice system, stating that a functional legal system would not allow the emergence of figures like VDM. Farotimi described VDM as a reflection of the failures within Nigerian society and warned that if the underlying grievances remain unaddressed, more individuals operating outside traditional institutions could emerge.

He emphasized that the judiciary is no longer the last hope for the common man, asserting that VDM has taken on that role due to the inadequacies of the legal system.
