Shettima Supports Jigawa Alfalfa Project for Peace

On a tour at the Jigawa State Economic Investment Summit, Vice President Kashim Shettima expressed support for the Alfalfa Project, which aims to address the farmers-herders conflict in Nigeria. The project, initiated by El Meena Farm, seeks to cultivate premium alfalfa on a large scale, providing sustainable livestock feed and reducing reliance on open grazing, a major cause of clashes between farmers and herders.

Shettima emphasized the project's potential to transform livestock production, strengthen food security, and promote peaceful coexistence across the country. The Alfalfa Project is positioned to establish an integrated value chain to meet the growing demand in Nigeria's dairy and livestock industry, with Jigawa State aiming to become a leading center for forage product export in West Africa.

The initiative is part of a broader commitment by the federal government to create an enabling environment for investment, boost agricultural productivity, create jobs, and attract private capital to drive inclusive economic growth.
