Shettima Launches Distribution of 515,720 Fertilizer Bags

On Monday, Vice President Kashim Shettima officially launched the nationwide distribution of 515,720 bags of urea and NPK fertilizer to assist 128,930 smallholder farmers across 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This initiative is part of the government's efforts to boost food production and strengthen national food security under the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) and the Farm Input Support Program (FISP).

Shettima emphasized the significance of this program as a milestone in President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda for the agricultural sector, directly supporting farmers who cultivate less than 0.5 hectares of land. The program aims to reduce production costs, increase yields, and ensure transparency in the distribution process, particularly for vulnerable groups such as women and youth.

The initiative is crucial during the farming calendar, ensuring farmers have timely access to quality inputs, which is essential for enhancing agricultural productivity and improving rural livelihoods.
