FG Distributes 80,640 Fertilizer Bags to Farmers

The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched a distribution initiative, providing 80,640 bags of fertilizer to 20,160 registered smallholder farmers in Imo, Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states. This initiative, part of the Farm Input Support Program (FISP), aims to support farmers ahead of the 2026 wet farming season.

The event was marked by a flag-off ceremony at the Ndubuisi Kanu Hero Square in Owerri, Imo State, where the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), Moham Ibrahim, emphasized the program's design to bridge critical farm input gaps and enhance agricultural productivity. The initiative is expected to stabilize food prices, increase crop yields, and provide direct support to farmers.

Ibrahim Tanimu, a Senior Special Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, described the program as a strategic investment towards achieving food self-sufficiency. Governor Hope Uzodimma and Deputy Governor Ladi Chinyer Ihuoma Ekomaru also supported the initiative, highlighting its potential to boost agricultural development in the South-East.
