Shettima Advocates for Stronger Nigeria-Thailand Relations

On Wednesday, Vice President Kashim Shettima met with a delegation from Thailand, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Shettima called for an enhancement of Nigeria's bilateral relationship with Thailand, emphasizing the need to move beyond existing transactions focused on crude oil and rice production.

He urged both nations to deepen their cooperation in various sectors, including technology, agriculture, commerce, and renewable energy. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, issued a statement titled ‘Nigeria, Thailand to Expand Bilateral Ties in Technology, Agriculture, Renewable Energy,’ highlighting Nigeria's intention to review its existing partnerships with Thailand.

This review aims to leverage Thailand’s comparative advantage in deploying intermediate technology in agriculture and related sectors.
