Nigeria and Thailand Strengthen Ties in Key Sectors

On Wednesday, Nigeria and Thailand expressed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations across various sectors, including technology, agriculture, commerce, and renewable energy. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Nigeria's Vice-President Kashim Shettima and Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Yousef Hassan Khalawi at the State House in Abuja.

Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, emphasized the need to review existing partnerships, leveraging Thailand’s strengths in intermediate technology in agriculture. Khalawi, on his first trip to Africa, praised Nigeria's ongoing transformation and proposed the Thailand-Africa Initiative, aimed at enhancing economic cooperation and people-to-people ties, particularly in agriculture.

He recognized Nigeria as a strategic partner and a key player in strengthening ties with Africa, especially West Africa. Shettima urged Thailand to continue business engagements with Nigeria, citing its demographic advantages and abundant natural resources.
