Shettima's Leadership During Boko Haram Crisis Celebrated

On Thursday, Prof. Abubakar Sulaiman, the former Minister of National Planning and Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, paid tribute to Vice President Kashim Shettima on his 60th birthday. Shettima, born on September 2, 1966, took over as governor of Borno State at a time when the Boko Haram insurgency was severely impacting communities.

Sulaiman noted that Shettima's administration faced significant security challenges but prioritized reconstruction, education, healthcare, and agriculture. He emphasized that Shettima's leadership during the crisis was marked by a commitment to investing in the future of Borno State.

After serving two terms as governor, Shettima was elected senator for Borno Central in 2019 and was later selected as President Bola Tinubu's running mate for the 2023 presidential election, which they won under the All Progressives Congress.
