Shettima and Zulum Lead Eid-el-Fitr Prayers in Maiduguri

On Eid-el-Fitr, Kashim Shettima, the Vice President of Nigeria, and Babagana Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, observed prayers at the central Eid ground in Maiduguri. They were joined by Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Umar Garbai El Kanemi, and other dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur, and members of the Progressive Congress (APC).

During the sermon, Imam Mamman Saleh highlighted the need for Muslims to uphold the virtues of Ramadan and promote peace and coexistence. Shettima addressed journalists, expressing optimism that insecurity across the country would soon be brought under control through proactive measures implemented by federal and state governments.

He called for unity among Nigerians, noting the overlap of Ramadan and Lent as a unique opportunity for national reflection and renewal. Shettima commended the resilience and commitment of the people and leadership of Borno State towards sustaining peace and harmony.
