Borno Issues Security Alert for Maiduguri Ahead of Eid

The Borno State government has issued a security alert for Maiduguri in anticipation of Eid al-Fitr celebrations, urging residents to remain vigilant amid intelligence reports indicating a possible attack. Governor Babagana Zulum disclosed this alert during an interview with BBC Hausa Service, revealing that security agencies had received information about plans for an attack in the city involving two suicide bombers.

He emphasized the need for heightened alertness among the populace, especially following recent developments in the state. The governor noted that insurgents are under pressure from ongoing military operations, which may lead them to target softer locations to create panic.

Despite the threats, Governor Zulum expressed confidence in the security forces and assured residents that enhanced measures have been put in place to safeguard the city during the festive period.
