Shinkafi Enters Zamfara North Senate Race, Critiques Past Leaders

Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi announced his candidacy for the Zamfara North senatorial district seat on the platform of the Progressive Congress (APC).

He obtained his nomination form in Abuja on Tuesday. Shinkafi lamented the decades of poor representation and marginalization experienced by the district since 1999, which he claims has left local government areas sidelined.

He emphasized that the senatorial district, comprising four local governments, has not seen a meaningful shift in political power, resulting in inadequate legislative contributions to the National Assembly. Shinkafi criticized past representatives for their failure to sponsor significant bills and attract federal government projects to Zamfara North.

He called for a political power shift among constituencies and urged constituents to embrace change, rejecting any consensus arrangements for the primaries. Shinkafi stated that he is not ready to step down and disclosed that eight aspirants, including the incumbent senator who has served for 16 years, are vying for the ticket.
