Shinkafi Threatens Legal Action Over APC Senatorial Ticket

Sani Shinkafi, a former governorship candidate in Zamfara State, announced on Thursday his intention to take legal action against the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the senatorial ticket for Zamfara North. He accused the party of imposing a candidate, Sahabi Yau, without adhering to democratic principles and the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.

Shinkafi claimed that the primary elections were not conducted fairly and that there was significant voter intimidation and threats against candidates. He further alleged that the process was influenced by top political actors, including a directive from the presidency to withdraw in favor of a sitting senator.

Shinkafi emphasized that he would not withdraw from the race and would challenge the primary election results in court, urging the APC's national leadership to restore internal democracy and comply with electoral guidelines.
