Bo Rangers Withdraw from 2026/27 CAF Champions League

Bo Rangers, the champions of the Sierra Leone Premier League, have officially withdrawn from the 2026/27 CAF Champions League, citing financial constraints as the primary reason. The club had recently secured qualification for Africa’s premier club competition by winning the league title.

However, after assessing the financial implications, Bo Rangers determined that the costs associated with participation—such as international travel, accommodation, logistics, player welfare, and match organization—were too burdensome. This withdrawal represents a significant setback for the club, which had the opportunity to compete against some of Africa’s top teams.

The decision also raises concerns about the financial realities facing many clubs across the continent, particularly those from smaller football markets. Without a representative in the CAF Champions League, Sierra Leone football risks missing valuable international exposure and opportunities for sponsorship and revenue generation.

Football administrators are expected to engage with CAF regarding the possibility of nominating a replacement club.
