NAPTIP Investigates Lagos Daycare Abuse Allegations Linked to Simi

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), led by Director General Binta Adamu Bello, has commenced a full-scale investigation into allegations of child molestation at a daycare facility in Lagos. This action follows a resurgence of social media posts suggesting potential child abuse linked to popular Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, known as Simi.

The agency confirmed that the investigation was prompted by online discussions and a screenshot of a tweet from Simi dating back to 2012-2013, which has been recirculated and interpreted as suggesting inappropriate conduct in a daycare environment. Simi's recent comments advocating for the castration of rapists have also drawn criticism, leading to the resurfacing of the old tweet.

NAPTIP has urged the public to report any relevant information through official channels, emphasizing that child protection remains a top priority. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, represented by Executive Secretary Lola Vivour Adeniyi, has also acknowledged the need for a preliminary investigation into the allegations.
