Singapore's ICA Outlines Process for Foreigners' Stay Extensions

The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) of Singapore has published official guidance detailing how foreigners can legally extend their stay in the country beyond their initial entry period. The ICA clarified that the duration of a visitor's stay is determined by a Visit Pass, issued electronically as an e-Pass upon entry, and is not directly linked to the visa's validity.

For those wishing to stay longer than their e-Pass allows, they must apply for a Short-Term Visit Pass (STVP) extension through the ICA's official channels. The ICA also emphasized that the SG Arrival Card, which many travelers complete prior to entering Singapore, is not a visa and does not confer any visa status.

Additionally, all travelers, regardless of age, are required to present a valid, individually issued travel document, as collective travel documents are not accepted. The ICA reiterated that holding a valid entry visa does not guarantee admission, as entry is subject to the requirements assessed at the checkpoint.
