Six Injured in Abuja Building Collapse on Friday

On Friday, around 11 AM, a two-storey building in Jikwoyi, Abuja, collapsed, resulting in injuries to six individuals. The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FCTEMD) reported that 17 workers were on the upper floor at the time of the incident.

Five workers were trapped, while one male was injured at ground level. Nkechi Isa, head of public affairs at FCTEMD, confirmed that rescue operations were underway to ensure no one remained trapped under the rubble.

Emergency response teams included personnel from the National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Capital Development Authority, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Fire Service, and FCT Police Command. The site was excavated to ground zero to ensure thorough rescue efforts.

Injured individuals were taken to a local hospital in Jikwoyi for treatment.
