Five Dead in Abuja Building Collapse; Rescue Ongoing

A tragic incident occurred in Abuja on Saturday morning when a three-storey building collapsed in the Durumi 3 area near Gudu Market, resulting in the confirmed deaths of five individuals. Ten others have been rescued alive as rescue operations continue.

The building collapse took place at a construction site located around Gaduwa Estate in the Gudu District. Daniel Tyokua reported the incident, which was confirmed by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Dr. Adedolapo Fasaw, from the FCT Health Services Environment Secretariat, visited the scene and disclosed that the Minister, Nyesom Wike, has directed that immediate medical support be provided to the victims.

Emergency response teams, including officials from the Federal Fire Service, security agencies, health workers, and local volunteers, are engaged in the challenging search and rescue operations, as anxious residents gather at the scene.
