Six Osun Reps Defect to Accord Party Ahead of Elections

On a significant political shift in Osun State, six members of the House of Representatives formally defected from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party during a stakeholder gathering held in Osogbo on Monday. The announcement was made by Clement Akanni, who represents the Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency.

The defectors include Mahruf Adewal (Osogbo/Olorunda/Orolu/Irepodun), Bamidel Salam (Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo), Soji Adetunji (Ikirun/Boripe/Odo Otin), and Mudashiru Lukman Alani (Iwo/Ayedire/Boluwaduro). Akanni emphasized the need for support and active participation in the upcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

He noted that the decision to leave the PDP was influenced by internal challenges and a desire to avoid pitfalls in the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adelek. Former Deputy Speaker Lasun Yusuf urged party members to remain dedicated ahead of the polls.
