FCTA Ensures Antivenom Availability in Abuja Public Hospitals After Snakebite Tragedy

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) guarantees the availability of antivenom in Abuja public hospitals after the tragic death of Ifunanya Nwangen from a snakebite. Dr.

Adedolapo Fasawe, from the FCT Health Services Secretariat, reassured residents of sufficient antivenom stock and highlighted the different types of antivenom available. The FCTA maintains a central store for polyvalent and multivalent antivenom, managed to ensure quality and availability.

Fasawe refuted claims of negligence in Nwangen's treatment, stating that prompt and appropriate care was provided. She urged residents to adopt primary prevention measures and emphasized the critical role of early antivenom administration in snakebite cases.
