Soba Peace Pact Boosts Agriculture and Rural Economy

Stakeholders in the Soba Local Government Area have initiated a peace pact aimed at reconciling farmer-herder relations, which they believe is crucial for enhancing food production and stabilizing the rural economy. The meeting, facilitated by Global Peace Development, brought together participants from 11 wards to discuss strategies for protecting farmland and establishing grazing routes.

Ebruk Onajit Esik, the Executive Director of Global Peace Development, emphasized that stability in agrarian communities directly influences crop yields and livestock production. He stated that when conflicts are minimized, agricultural output increases, thereby boosting the local economy.

Councillor Hon. Sanusi Hashim from Kinkiba Ward highlighted the economic benefits expected during the wet season, reinforcing the importance of the peace pact in safeguarding agricultural investments and reducing losses.

The stakeholders committed to respecting the designated grazing corridors to ensure sustainable agricultural practices.
