PDP's 2023 Guber Candidate Ubandoma Joins APC

Malam Saidu Umar Ubandoma, who was the 2023 governorship candidate for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). His decision was influenced by concerns regarding leadership within the PDP.

Ubandoma, who previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in Sokoto State, was received into the APC by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko in Abuja. Wamakko, who is a prominent figure in the APC, described Ubandoma's defection as indicative of the party's growing acceptance across Sokoto State.

He assured Ubandoma of support and emphasized that the APC remains open to individuals committed to the progress of the state. Wamakko also highlighted the achievements of the APC under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Aliyu, noting investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture.

Ubandoma's shift from the PDP, where he had also aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), is expected to reshape the political landscape ahead of future elections in the state.
