Sokoto ADC Candidate Manir Dan Iya Pledges Reforms

Manir Dan Iya, the governorship candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, has committed to revitalizing the state’s civil service and implementing policies aimed at poverty reduction. Speaking to a delegation of civil servants, Dan Iya emphasized the importance of a motivated workforce for effective governance and sustainable development.

He expressed concerns over the alleged career setbacks faced by local government employees under previous administrations, advocating for a merit-based civil service that adheres to professional standards rather than political affiliations. Dan Iya highlighted the need to tackle the high levels of multidimensional poverty in Sokoto, as reported by the National Bureau of Statistics, and pledged to create opportunities that improve citizens' quality of life.

He assured civil servants that his administration would prioritize reforms, including prompt payment of salaries and the establishment of a technology-driven merit-based civil service. Malam Muhammad Gumbi, representing the delegation, congratulated Dan Iya on his candidacy and reaffirmed their support for his vision for Sokoto State.
