Sokoto State Approves N1.5 Billion for Infrastructure Projects

On Thursday, during its first meeting of 2026, the Sokoto State Executive Council approved several contracts totaling over N1.5 billion aimed at improving service delivery across various sectors. Key approvals included N336.6 million for the renovation of the Vice Chancellor's residence at Sokoto State University, aimed at enhancing living conditions for academic staff.

Additionally, N179.3 million was allocated for upgrading a clinic at the State College of Basic Remedial Studies to meet National Board for Technical Education requirements. The council also approved N956 million for the renovation of government secondary schools and the establishment of a children's center.

In the transport sector, N78.34 million was allocated for the rehabilitation of the Sokoto State Transport Authority facilities. Furthermore, N221.9 million was approved for the completion of the long-abandoned Wamakko General Hospital project.

The religious sector saw an allocation of N144.6 million for constructing a central Jumaat mosque in Shuni. Lastly, N141.97 million was approved for constructing a security outpost in Gwadabawa to enhance community safety.
