Sokoto State Approves N1.76bn for Security Motorcycles

The Sokoto State Government has approved N1.759 billion for the procurement of 1,000 Bajaj motorcycles aimed at bolstering security operations against banditry in the state. This decision was made during the sixth regular meeting of the Sokoto State Executive Council for 2026, chaired by Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir.

A statement from the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Abubakar Bawa, indicated that these motorcycles will enhance the mobility of security personnel, especially in challenging terrains affected by banditry. This procurement complements the recent acquisition of 62 armored vehicles at a cost of N27 billion, also intended for security agencies.

The council emphasized the importance of strengthening security operations and providing necessary logistics to combat criminal activities effectively. Bawa stated that the government is committed to implementing projects that will positively impact the lives of the people and contribute to Sokoto State's overall development.
