Sokoto NYSC Member Offers Free Hepatitis Screening and Training

Miss Amanwi Gahtan Ndomchen, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Sokoto State, organized a medical outreach that provided free Hepatitis screening for 250 residents in the Kwanawa community and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Dange/Shuni Local Government Area. This initiative, conducted in collaboration with UNICEF, Pathfinder Women and Children Development Initiative (PWCDI), and Pure Path Health Initiative (PHI), also included general health checks, blood pressure and blood sugar tests, and health sensitization.
Ndomchen, a medical biochemist, expressed her motivation stemming from the low level of medical literacy in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of early detection for effective management of health conditions. Adamu Abubakar Ibrahim, Director of Medical Services at the Sokoto State Ministry of Health, praised the outreach for raising awareness about Hepatitis B, which is manageable and curable when detected early.
Hajiya Aisha Dantshoho, Coordinator of PWCDI, encouraged other corps members to follow Ndomchen's example, while Theophilus Odeleye, Programme Manager of PHI, affirmed ongoing support for preventive healthcare initiatives.
