Sokoto Government Launches MAMII Initiative to Reduce Maternal Deaths

The Sokoto State Government, in collaboration with UNICEF and the Federal Ministry of Health, has launched the Maternal Newborn Mortality Initiative (MAMII) to combat maternal and infant deaths in the state. The initiative aims to significantly reduce mortality rates through healthcare reforms and improved services.

Sokoto State Commissioner of Health, Faruk Abubakar, emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery and reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. The MAMII initiative includes policies to address manpower shortages, strengthen primary healthcare centers, and introduce maternal ambulance services for timely emergency care.

This initiative marks a crucial step towards improving healthcare outcomes in Sokoto State.
