Sokoto Govt Halts School Fees Collection Amid Complaints, Warns Principals

The Sokoto state government, through Commissioner Ladan Ala, has suspended the collection of school fees in public secondary schools following complaints about excessive charges. Principals were directed to halt fee collection immediately, pending a review by a ministry committee.

The suspension includes various fees such as PTA levy, admission fee, and examination charges. Ala warned that any principal found violating the directive would face administrative consequences.

The move aims to address concerns raised by parents and students regarding the financial burden of education in the state.
