Sokoto State Launches 10,000 Capacity Poultry Cold-Room

The Sokoto State Government has commissioned a modern cold-room facility with a capacity to process 10,000 birds daily, aimed at boosting the poultry sector and supporting livestock product resilience. This facility, located at the Sokoto Live Bird Market, serves as a central business hub for various poultry products, allowing sellers to store and distribute their goods effectively.

The absence of cold storage has historically posed significant challenges for poultry traders, particularly during festive periods when demand fluctuates, leading to substantial daily waste. The initiative, led by Abubakar Mohammed Yabo, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, is part of the government's commitment to promoting poultry business across the state and improving profitability for sellers.
