Saidu Umar Resigns from PDP After Tambuwal's Exit

Saidu Umar, known as Ubandoma Sokoto, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) as of March 10, 2026. His resignation letter was addressed to the PDP chairman at Kofar Atiku Ward in Sokoto South Local Government Area.

Umar's decision to leave the party stems from ongoing internal conflicts and unresolved leadership disputes at the national level, which he believes have weakened the party's cohesion and stability. This development follows the exit of former Sokoto State governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal from the PDP, intensifying political realignments within the state.

Despite his departure, Umar expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the PDP during the 2023 elections and reaffirmed his commitment to democratic values and the development of Sokoto State. His resignation adds to a growing list of defections linked to the ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP at the national level.
