Tambuwal Resigns from PDP, Joins ADC Amid Crises

On March 11, 2026, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the former governor of Sokoto State and current senator representing Sokoto South, officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). In his resignation letter addressed to the chairman of the Shinfiri Ward in Tambuw Local Government Area, Tambuwal explained that his decision followed extensive consultations and deep reflection on the ongoing internal crises and leadership disagreements within the PDP.

He noted that these divisions had made it increasingly difficult for him to continue his membership in the party. Tambuwal expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the PDP during his tenure as speaker of the House of Representatives and as governor.

He reaffirmed his commitment to serving Nigeria and emphasized the need for a stronger political platform that promotes integrity, accountability, and inclusiveness for national development.
