Tambuwal Resigns from PDP, Joins ADC Amid Crisis

Aminu Tambuwal, the Senator representing Sokoto South and former Governor of Sokoto State, has officially resigned from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). His resignation letter, dated March 11, 2026, was addressed to the PDP ward chairman of Tambuwal Shinfiri Ward in Tambuwal Local Government Area and was made available to journalists on Thursday.

In his letter, Tambuwal cited persistent internal crises and leadership disputes within the PDP as reasons for his departure, stating that these issues made it increasingly difficult for him to continue his membership. He expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the PDP during his service in various capacities, including as Speaker of the House of Representatives and Governor of Sokoto State.

Tambuwal's move to the ADC is seen as part of an effort to strengthen democratic values and provide a credible political alternative in Nigeria, as he aims to foster a stronger political platform built on integrity and inclusiveness.
